Founded in 2012 and based on a revolutionary partnership between Cornell University and the Technion­ – Israel Institute of Technology, Cornell Tech is located at the scenic Roosevelt Island in New York City and is focused on creating pioneering leaders and technologies for the digital age, through research, technology commercialization, and graduate-level education at the professional master’s, doctoral and postdoctoral levels.

Located in the heart of New York City on Roosevelt Island, Cornell Tech is easily accessible by subway and bus routes from the city’s three major airports.

  • LaGuardia (LGA): 30 minutes by car, 1 hour by public transit
  • JFK: 1 hour by car, 1.5 hours by public transit
  • Newark-Liberty (EWR): 1.5 hours by car, 1 hour by public transit

On-ground and underground transport too mundane? Then take to the skies on the Roosevelt Island Tramway and soar above the city, taking in breathtaking views not only of the campus, but of the iconic NYC skyline. The Tramway is part of the public transit network and requires a normal subway card; it runs every 7-15 minutes from 59th Street and Second Avenue.


There are a variety of lodging options available near Cornell Tech at a variety of cost levels. The most convenient option is the on-campus “Graduate Hotel”.

There are many other hotels near Cornell Tech and easily accessible by public transportation. For visitors interested in other lodging options, we recommend searching for hotels in the Queens borough, across the river from Roosevelt Island. In general, these hotels are about 20 minutes away from Cornell Tech by public transit. A nice option includes the “Boro Hotel“.








For the most budget-conscious participants, hostels such as “The Local NY” offer dorm-style lodging for approximately $60 per night.
